If your days feel a little chaotic, you’re not alone!
Work runs long. Kids have practice. Dinner needs to happen. By the time you finally sit down to relax at the end of the night, the last thing you’re thinking about is getting to the gym. Most nights, you’re just trying to make it to bedtime.
But at some point in your day, somewhere in the back of your mind, there’s that thought that keeps resurfacing: “I really need to start working out again.”
But then your thoughts move on, and the next day looks just like the last one.
The Problem Isn’t Your Schedule
Most people think the reason they can’t stick with a gym is because they don’t have enough time. But that’s usually not the real issue.
The real issue is that most gyms aren’t built for real life.
They assume you’ve got extra time, extra energy, and a perfectly organized day. And if you’re a busy adult juggling work, family, and everything in between, that’s just not reality.
What “Consistency” Actually Looks Like
Let’s clear something up: consistency doesn’t mean working out every single day or never missing a workout.
At our Yellowhammer CrossFit, consistency looks more like this:
- The mom who shows up at 5:15am before the house wakes up
- The dad who stops by the gym on the way home so he doesn’t talk himself out of it
- The member who commits to 3 days a week to earn Committed Club every month
It’s not perfect. It’s not always convenient. But it’s repeatable, and that’s what matters.
You Don’t Need More Motivation
A lot of people think they need to “get motivated” before they start. But if we’re being honest, motivation is unreliable. Some days you’ll feel great and ready to knock out a workout. Some days, you just won’t.
The people who actually stick with a gym aren’t more motivated than you… they just have a system that doesn’t rely on motivation.
