We hear people say all the time: “I just don’t have time to work out”. Between work, family, and everyday responsibilities, it’s easy to put your fitness on the backburner. We all have the same 24 hours in the day, and those that are consistent in the gym show us that it’s not about having the time, it’s about making the time.
If you’ve been struggling to prioritize your health and fitness, we’ve seen how others successfully make time in their day to get a good workout in, and have some tips to help you find that time in your day.
1. It Takes Just 1 Hour
At Yellowhammer CrossFit, our group classes are designed to maximize results in just 60 minutes – from warm-up to WOD to cooldown. You don’t have to worry about what to do or how to do it, we take care of the programming and coach you through the movements from start to finish, so you can walk in, get it done, and move on with your day.
PRO TIP: Instead of scrolling social media or watching TV, commit 1 hour a day, 3-4 times a week to your health. You’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish in that short time!
2. Schedule It Like an Appointment
You wouldn’t cancel a meeting with your boss or skip a doctor’s appointment, right? Treat your getting into the gym with that same level of commitment.
PRO TIP: Register for your classes for the week, put your workouts on your calendar and set reminders. Make it visible and non-negotiable to make it happen. Check out our weekly schedule here to plan your week!
3. Find Accountability and Make It Fun
When working out feels like a chore, it’s easy to talk yourself out of going to the gym. But when you’re part of a supportive, fun community like Yellowhammer CrossFit, it’s something you’ll actually look forward to. Our members hold each other accountable when they don’t show up as expected, and we have our YHCF Committed Club to recognize and reward the efforts that everyone puts in to getting in the gym consistently.
PRO TIP: Grab a friend, join a class, and let the energy of the group keep you motivated. Our coaches and members hold each other accountable, so skipping becomes the harder choice. Once you make Committed Club the first time, there’s no going back!
4. Prioritize Your Health Like Your Life Depends on It (Because It Does!)
“If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness” – Anon.
CrossFit isn’t just about getting stronger, it’s about building a body that supports you for life, today and years in the future. CrossFit’s prescription for nutrition, strength and conditioning will allow you to look and feel better right now, but it truly is an investment in your later years.
PRO TIP: Shift your mindset from “I don’t have time” to “This is a non-negotiable.” Think about what being healthier will allow you to do, whether it’s keeping up with your kids, feeling more confident, or simply living better, longer.
5. Start Small and Build Momentum
Many people think they need to work out every day or train like an athlete to see results. That’s not true. Consistency beats intensity every time.
PRO TIP: Start incorporating 2-3 classes a week here with us. As you get comfortable and start to see progress, you’ll build momentum and hitting the gym regularly will quickly become a normal part of your routine.
